Dynamical analysis,circuit realization,and application in pseudorandom number generators of a fractional-order laser chaotic system

A new five-dimensional fractional-order laser chaotic system (FOLCS) is constructed by incorporating complex variables and fractional calculus into a Lorentz-Haken-type laser system. Dynamical behavior of the system, circuit realization and application in pseudorandom number generators are studied. Many types of multi-stable states are discovered in the system. Interestingly, there are two types of state transition phenomena in the system, one is the chaotic state degenerates to a periodical state, and the other is the intermittent chaotic oscillation. In addition, the complexity of the system when two parameters change simultaneously is measured by the spectral entropy algorithm. Moreover, a digital circuit is design and the chaotic oscillation behaviors of the system are verified on this circuit. Finally, a pseudo-random sequence generator is designed using the FOLCS, and the statistical characteristics of the generated pseudo-random sequence are tested with the NIST-800-22. This study enriches the research on the dynamics and applications of FOLCS.     

Approximation of quantum assemblages

In this paper, we derive a set of projectors on a large Hilbert space which can universally work for approximating quantum assemblages with binary inputs and outputs. The dimension of the Hilbert space depends on the accuracy of the approximation.

The rule of affine similitude for the force coefficients of a body oscillating in a uniformly stratified fluid

 This paper presents a study on affine similitude for the force coefficients of an arbitrary body oscillating in a uniformly stratified fluid. A simple formula is derived that gives a relation between the force coefficients for a body oscillating in homogeneous and uniformly stratified ideal fluids. In particular, it implies the existence of a universal nondimensional similitude criterion for a family of affinely similar bodies, namely, the bodies that can be transformed into each other by vertical dilation of the initial coordinate system. Theoretical results are verified by experiments with a set of spheroids having different length-to-diameter ratios. The experimental technique for evaluation of the frequency-dependent force coefficients is based on Fourier analysis of the time-history of damped oscillation tests. Affine Hecke algebras and the Schubert calculus

Using a combinatorial approach that avoids geometry, this paper studies the structure of K_T(G/B), the T-equivariant K-theory of the generalized flag variety G/B. This ring has a natural basis (the double Grothendieck polynomials), where is the structure sheaf of the Schubert variety X_w. For rank two cases we compute the corresponding structure constants of the ring K_T(G/B) and, based on this data, make a positivity conjecture for general G which generalizes the theorems of M. Brion (for K(G/B)) and W. Graham (for H_T^*(G/B)). Let [X^λ]K_T(G/B) be the class of the homogeneous line bundle on G/B corresponding to the character of T indexed by λ. For general G we prove “Pieri–Chevalley formulas” for the products , , , and , where λ is dominant. By using the Chern character and comparing lowest degree terms the products which are computed in this paper also give results for the Grothendieck polynomials, double Schubert polynomials, and ordinary Schubert polynomials in, respectively K(G/B), H_T^*(G/B) and H^*(G/B).

In this paper,the concept of the infinitesimal realization factor is extended to the parameter-dependent performance functions in closed queueing networks. Then the concepts of realization matrix (its elements are called realization factors) and performance potential are introduced,and the relations between infinitesimal realization factors and these two quantities are discussed. This provides a united framework for both IPA and non IPA approaches. Finally,another physical meaning of the service rate is given.

Affine scaling algorithm fails for semidefinite programming

In this paper, we introduce an affine scaling algorithm for semidefinite programming (SDP), and give an example of a semidefinite program such that the affine scaling algorithm converges to a non-optimal point. Both our program and its dual have interior feasible solutions and unique optimal solutions which satisfy strict complementarity, and they are non-degenerate everywhere.
